In typical fashion, I've waited until the last minute to make any sort of B-day plans.
Actually, I haven't officially made any.
I've been dreaming for a month about what I want for my birthday... A shovel, some dirt, various plants, money to buy all the amazing stuff I can't afford... the usual. But a little Facebook "Notification" changed all that.
"Happy (almost) Birthday!" it said. "Thank you" I replied. ... um ... yeah, I think I did... sad.
"This year, make a birthday wish to raise money from your friends for a cause you care about."
My initial response was, no thanks. I want to keep my presents, thank you. (since I don't want to expect my friends to get me presents, and support a cause...)
But God...
Need I say more?
Yes, God moved my heart, and I believe this is what He wants for my birthday. :)
The Cause:
My new friends, Andy and Ellen Stumbo are adopting Nina from Eastern Europe. Nina is 3 years old and has Cerebral Palsy. She lives in an orphanage in a country where those with special needs are packed away to institutions, where they receive minimum care, and minimum love.
Please help me help my friends bring her to a loving home where she can thrive both physically and spiritually!
The Stumbos are trying to raise $5,000 by the end of October, I want to see if we can raise at least $500! Even if you only can give 10, 15, or 20 bucks, it brings them a little bit closer to their goal! Please prayerfully consider being as generous as possible.
Logistics:
I have posted on my blog 2 ways you can donate:
The ChipIn will donate to them directly, and the picture goes to Reece's Rainbow, the organization through which the Stumbos found Nina. (note, the Reece's Rainbow site has Nina's name listed as Lily for confidentiality purposes)
I know the ChipIn donations are tax deductible, and I believe the Reece's Rainbow ones are as well, but I will double check.
